The second-biggest vehicle industry in India, Bajaj Auto, has managed the Indian avenues for over 60 years. The automobile company came into existence in the year 1945 as M/s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Ltd. The biggest maker in the portion of the bike, Bajaj Auto, started selling motorcycles and three-wheelers in 1948 with a license to manufacture for 11 years.
In the year 1960, the organization opened up to the world and propelled its first two-wheeler Vespa 150. The organization didn’t have a permit after 1960; therefore, it continued launching Vespa under the license of Piaggio, Italy. The scooter was famous for its painted body, steel body-parts, and a level plank of flooring. In the year 1971, the organization began to dispatch three-wheeler. But the central defining moment came when Bajaj Auto propelled Bajaj Chetak. The bike organization turned out to be amazingly famous in the scooter segment, like Colgate for tooth-paste. The trademark “Humara Bajaj” got inescapable, and without rivalry, Bajaj had an imposing business model in bikes.
In 1977, the permit for Vespa 150 terminated, yet the creation was still on as Bajaj’s two-wheelers were moderate and advantageous for the Indian riders. That year Bajaj Auto propelled another scooter for Indian riders “Bajaj Super.” Its highlights were indistinguishable from Bajaj Vespa. The Kawasaki Motorcycle:
Bajaj collaborated with Kawasaki in the year 1986, and the production of the KB series bike began from 1986-1996. During this period, Kawasaki Bajaj KB100 and Kawasaki Bajaj KB125 came into existence.
Bajaj Vehicles from 1990- 2000:
During the ’90s, the company introduced scooterette Bajaj Sunny for boys and girls. It was just a 60cc motor that gave the maximum speed of 50 km/h.
In the year 1991, the organization propelled Kawasaki Bajaj 4S Champion. The square-looking bike with a square front headlamp and body parts was in fashion – a cruiser after the scooter. The basic yet appealing motorbike gave a mileage of 110 km/h, which was all you needed to get an energetic look during that period.
Between 1993 to 1995, Bajaj produced vehicles every year. Bajaj Stride, Bajaj Classic, and Bajaj Excel got propelled individually.
Before the gearless vehicle came to the Indian market, Bajaj bikes were there to administrate the streets. Among the different bikes from Bajaj like Chetak, Super, Vespa, Bajaj Stride wasn’t a real achievement. The square-molded body with 145cc motor didn’t do great in the market for its construct quality.
The launch of the Bajaj Classic and Bajaj Excel was not a hit for the organization. It appears the organization had chosen for a limited life span for these scooters, like items from Microsoft. Apathetic body parts with low mileage were fruitless production.
Bajaj Vehicles from 1997-2000:
In 1997, Bajaj launched Kawasaki Boxer. Boxer couldn’t perform well in the Indian motorbike community, although its motor power was high. Bajaj presented RE Diesel Auto rickshaw in the same year.
The year 1998 was superb when Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber rolled out in the market. With a decent mileage of 95 Km/h, the bike captured the streets of India. More than 100000 Calibers got sold that year; users were in awe of this new entrant.
Bajaj also introduced the first four-stroke bike the Legend. It was a transformation during the 70s and 80s.
A two-stroke scooterette, Spirit in 1999 with 60cc single-cylinder, and the air-cooled motor came out for youngsters. In the year 2000, Bajaj Saffire, a gear-less engine scooter, also couldn’t leave a mark in the history of Bajaj.
In the year 2001, Bajaj presented the most well-known bike in India, Bajaj Pulsar. The motor-cycle has eight variations now and has administered the Indian streets for quite a while. That year Bajaj also launched Kawasaki Bajaj Eliminator. A cruiser style bike with an air-cooled, single-cylinder engine was a premium deal for Bajaj. It served the base for the well known Avenger chain.
In the following three years, Bajaj came up with three additional vehicles consistently. Bajaj Pulsar DST-I, Bajaj Wind 125, and Bajaj Caliber 115, the “Hoodibabaa bike.”
From the year 2004 to 2009, Bajaj presented a progression of motorbikes in India. In the year 2004, Bajaj began with another logo and a new brand line with the dispatch of Bajaj Discover DTS-I, Bajaj CT 100 DTS-I, Bajaj Chetak 4-stroke, Bajaj Discover, Bajaj Avenger DST-I, Bajaj Wave DST-I.
Bajaj Avenger was a substitution for Bajaj Eliminator, a cruiser bike with 180cc motor. Later on, the engine was expanded to 200cc and then 220cc. Bajaj Wave was a re-examined variant of Bajaj Saffire, with 109.7cc, DTS-I engine with amended body parts. It offered the most extreme intensity of 8 BHP during that period with exhaust TEC innovation and riding control switch.
The dispatch of Bajaj Platina in 2006 crossed sales of 50,000 vehicles soon after its release in eight months. In 2007 Bajaj Kristal DST-I came trailed by Bajaj Pulsar with 200cc DST-I motor. Another engine DST-Fi came in Pulsar 220 DST-Fi. Also, in August, DST-Si motor came with Bajaj XCD 125 DST-Si.
The Baja Discover renewed to Bajaj Discover 135 DTS-Si and Bajaj Platina 125 DTS-Si in 2008. Bajaj updated all its old models to the new engine DTS-Si form in 2009.
Bajaj and KTM:
The orange shaded beast came to the Indian streets due to the collaboration of Bajaj with KTM. They went into an association of 12 years and turned into the biggest premium motorbike brand in India. The association encouraged Bajaj Auto to share the technology used for KTM. The first bike introduced was Bajaj KTM Duke 200 and got one of the most prominent bikes in India for rough terrain and city driving.
Bajaj Auto’s journey hasn’t been all rosy due to the ups and downs in the Indian two-wheeler market, yet their dispatch of new, upgraded two-wheeler year after year didn’t stop. It is still delivering one of the best bikes for every phase of the two-wheeler community.
Undoubtedly, Bajaj Auto is an exemplary example of the undying fighting spirit.
