Bajaj has a long, interesting history of Avenger motorbikes as the first Avenger was launched all the way back in 2005. The key to keeping the motorcycle affordable was its 180 cc engine. Since then the Avenger has undergone several incarnations with different engines like 220 cc or 150 ccs. However, with the Avenger Street 180, Bajaj hopes to return to its roots while providing improvements to outdo the competition.

Look, Design and Color
Street 180 maintains the urban look of its predecessors but there are some differences to note. It has an Ebony-black and Spicy Red body complemented by black metal components and the dark exhaust pipe. There is a new lamp that vaguely resembles a skull, combined with LED lamps that will run during the daytime. The lamp is not the only new motorbike accessory, for the console has been redesigned and is complemented with a small digital meter. The console is a little different because it uses analog readings as opposed to the digital meter.
The seat is a single piece with a new texture that feels like carbon fiber, an improvement over the Street 150. Of course, the most prominent feature is the motorcycle’s Black and Red look.
The engine has some similarities to Bajaj Pulsar 180 but improved for better acceleration and handling. When riding, the Avenger Street 180 will clock at 15.5 ps around 8,500 rpm, peaking at 13.7 Nm at 6500 rpm. The specifications clearly indicate that it was made for the city. The engine sacrifices power and torque for better handling. Engineers claim a big chunk of the torque will start at lower and mid revs. Hence, two-wheeler owners have an easier time in acceleration, a huge asset when looking to overtake in the city.
Ride and Handling
But how does the new Avenger Street 180 handle? Well, it is easy to see how the engineers optimized its design for the streets.
The motorcycle has rear springs measuring 98-108 mm, which means better cushioning when riding over bumps and potholes. Though it navigates traffic well, cutting tight corners is tough, you must turn ranging in 2-3 points. Braking is handled by a front brake disc measuring 260mm and a rear drum brake at 130mm.
To be honest, the abilities of the motorbike are somewhat limited due to its long wheelbase and front-end.
Street 180 was introduced to the market a few months ago at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 86,829 (New Delhi).
