Motorbikes India is very proud of what Naresh our ambassador in India achieved over the weekend. Competing in the fifth and final round of the Indian Motorcycle Racing Championships 2017!
Naresh was taking part in the up to 165cc category riding his Race spec modified Yamaha YZF R15. So lets hear what happened in Naresh’s own words.
‘We had a good pace from the very beginning of the weekend. We were happy about the bike’s setup and we were 1 second ahead of the competitors as far as the timings were concerned.
We managed to stay on the top clocking the fastest in Official Practice and Qualifying. In race one we had a good start from the pole and pulled a very good lead in the early stages of the race but unfortunately we had technical issue on the bike during the, and at the end of 4th lap of the race. Yet I was struggling to carry on with the pace when the other competitors moved ahead. It was very difficult for me to stay with them till the last lap, as the issue on the bike was major. Still, I managed to finish 2nd on the race with a head to head battle.
In Race 2, Our Technical crew worked hard till late at night to fix the issue on the bike and the bike was perfect. It was dramatic as the track was showered with rain and completely wet with water flowing over the track on several corners early in the morning.
That’s when the race direction came up with a decision to run on the short loop of the circuit where the water flow was minimum. We found the right setup on the Practice and clocked the fastest timing again. After the Race started I had a very close battle with my competitor, when the 3rd spot in the championship was decided. At the end of the race I finished 2nd.
The team and I were very happy with the overall performance to fight against the factory teams, and finish 3rd in the overall team championship, and 4th overall in the rider championship in Pro-Stock up to 165cc category, with only taking part in 3/5 rounds in the National championship 2017.
Now the team is looking for new challenges to fight against the factory teams in Supersport Indian category in 2018’s Racing season.
I am getting ready to hit Bahrain International circuit to test the Ducati 899 soon’.
Well done Naresh, and Motorbikes India will be following your career very closely now that we are partners, and keeping our readers updated regularly with your triumphs and challenges.
