Have you ever heard about Life in Laps? Well, the name Udipta Kumar Rath is no exception to that. This Odisha born sensation is the one and only rising motorbike rider who brings stars to the glory of the state as well as for the nation. Being the fastest Motorbike Rider, Udipta’s journey is an inspiration to all the Indian youth looking for a bright, sparkling and a fast career in motorbike racing.
So, how did it all start for Udipta?
Right from his early childhood, Udipta reflected a keen fondness towards bikes, racing and motorsports. And, would you believe if I said that it all started when he was just 11? Surprised? I am sure, but that is the truth. It was this passion that made him a stunt rider at the age of 15.
After being a freestyle motorcycle stunt rider for almost 7 years, Udipta moved ahead to become the only racer from Odisha to take part in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship organised by FEDERATION OF MOTORSPORTS CLUB OF INDIA.
Needless to say, but this was just the beginning of a high-rising motorbike racing career.
In 2017, Udipta went to Pirelli Malaysia Superbike Championship with ARD Performance Motorsports team. However, unfortunately, he met with a crash, but with a great zeal, he came back with a better performance at the Sepang International Circuit of Malaysia Racing. He raced on the dream machine – Suzuki GSX-R 600, under the category of 600cc, on a race track that stretches to 5.543 km including 15 corners.
Wow! That’s the spirit! I am already spellbound and it is not over yet.
He finished Top 10 in the Malaysian Superbike Championship and is looking forward to the Asia Road Racing Championship. Finishing Top 3 in the Asia Road Racing Championship will pave his way to enter his dream, the World Championships in 2020-2021.
So, what gives him so much motivation to follow his dream?
Well, Udipta believes in dreams and he says it is ok for everyone to dream too. If your dream does not scare you enough, then probably you are not dreaming big enough. You have to keep fighting until your dream becomes a reality. He says that in India, motorsports are not given as much importance, but he would go to any extent to keep the tri-colour (Indian National Flag) flying high. His target is the world championships of 2020-2021 and he is really working hard for it.
It is his love for mechanics and passion for machines that made him stand against all odds of life as a stunning motorbike lover. Every hurdle of life makes him stronger even if it is a sudden crash whilst his driving on the track or anything else.
Udipta is definitely an inspiration to the younger generation. He kept his passion for motorbikes alive while studying which many of us fail to and completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics.
Motorbikes India is proud to feature Udipta and wishes him all the very best in his future endeavours.
