In its latest avatar too, the R15 Version 3.0 is nothing short of awe inspiring. The motorbike now comes with improved mechanicals, sharper styling, and a new engine with variable actuators for better performance. Yamaha has taken special care for the safety of riders and have included hazard lamp too. Those who love speed and love the brand Yamaha are definitely going to get their hands on this motorbike. Bajaj Pulsar NS 150

Expected Launch Date: Dec 2017

I’m sure that everyone finds the above image of the latest 2017 Pulsar NS 200 simply spectacular. And, if we are to believe the rumours doing the rounds, Bajaj may soon be launching a Pulsar NS 150 as well. Pulsars have come a long way since they were first launched in India. They were a big hit back then and so are they till date. The naked streetfighter from Bajaj had in many ways made quality biking much more affordable to a lot of enthusiasts in India. It won’t be a surprise to see that happening again with the Pulsar NS 150.

If launched, the motorbike is expected to come with an LED tail lamp, backlit switchgear, underbelly exhaust, split seats, monoshock rear suspension, and a projector headlamp. Large fuel tank cowls, clip on style handle bar and a sharp set of front and rear indicators are going to be standard. Bajaj is planning to pack a punch in NS 150 with a fully digital instrument cluster boasting of not only a tachometer, speedometer and fuel gauge, but also a temperature gauge.

I am forced to say that all of this could very well be a hearsay, since Bajaj has not made any official announcements yet. However, looking at the history of Bajaj, it won’t be a surprise to see this bike becoming a reality, around the end of this year. I feel that the brute street-style of this motorbike will appeal to a lot of youngsters.

Key Specifications

  • Type: Naked Street Bike
  • Engine: 149.5cc, liquid cooled, 4-valve engine
  • Max Power: 17bhp @ 9,000 rpm
  • Max Torque: 13Nm @ 7,500 rpm
  • Expected Price: ₹1 lakh

Hero EBR 250

Bajaj Pulsar NS 150
Bajaj Pulsar NS 150

Expected Launch Date: Nov 2017

The now bankrupt Erik Buell Racing was once a famous name in the world of motorbikes and Hero MotoCorp owned close to 50% stake in the company before it went under. The Indian motorcycle company is expected to get some of that investment back in the form of a series of bikes designed by Buell & Co. The Hero EBR 250 is the first motorbike expected to come out of this partnership.

It is natural to expect that this race inspired bike would carry most of the EBR genes in it as shown in the image above (only for reference). If so, then we can expect the motorbike to be aggressive with a dual multi-reflector halogen headlamp setup, LED tail light, split seats etc. Like most of the EBRs, Hero EBR 250 would also sport a raised fuel tank with unique square lines and an inset on the sides for knee grip. Low saddle riding height, advanced multi-sensor fuelling system and a modish under seat exhaust system will be some of the unique features of this bike. A digital instrument console, conventional telescopic fork front and monoshock rear suspension system would add to the charm.

Staying true to its racing genes, the length of the windscreen would most likely be longer than usual for improved aerodynamics. ABS is expected too, but only as an option and not standard. Want a sports bike that looks more than the part, then Hero EBR 250 should be a good choice for you.

Key Specifications

  • Type: Sports Bike
  • Engine: 250cc, liquid cooled
  • Max Power: 31bhp @ 9,000 rpm
  • Max Torque: 26Nm @ 7,000 rpm
  • Expected Price: ₹1.8 lakh

Hyosung RT 125 D

Expected Launch Date: Dec 2017

The Korean motorbike manufacturer, DSK Hyosung, unveiled RT 125 D in the 2014 Auto Expo. Back then, it definitely had created quite a stir. It is a light-weight motorbike with a meagre weight of just 135 kg. Add to that the chunky rear tyre and an off roader look, RT 125 D all of a sudden starts to look like an interesting proposition. A production variant, however, is still far away and only expected to be launched in India by the end of 2017. The slim and yet stylish looks of RT 125 D are one of the highlights of the bike.

The motorbike is expected to come with an engine guard, round headlight, alloy pegs, and a high exhaust. Overall, the Hyosung clearly seems to have been inspired by Yamaha’s TW200 of 1980s. It’s difficult to say if the lack of power will be an issue for the potential owners of this motorbike. Despite of a smaller engine, the RT 125 D manages to look like an interesting motorbike and great fun to ride. I feel that Hyosung RT 125 D can give you an excellent riding experience on the half-baked roads of India.

Key Specifications

  • Type: All Terrain Bike
  • Engine: 125cc
  • Max Power: 13.5bhp @ 10,000 rpm
  • Max Torque: 10.8Nm @ 8,000 rpm
  • Expected Price: ₹1.5 lakh

UM Motorcycles XStreet 230

UM Motorcycles XStreet 230

Expected Launch Date: Dec 2017

The all new XStreet 230 from UM Motorcycles is clearly a motorbike with attitude and style. The US based motorbike manufacturer is planning to launch their latest offering in India by the end of 2017, though an official announcement is yet to be made.

From the pictures made available so far, it seems that the XStreet 230 has an electrifying design, all thanks to the fully integrated stem of LEDs on the contours of the bike. The tail pipe has been upgraded with a single outlet tube and a removable decibel annihilator for the folks who love sportier sound. It is a naked sports bike and is expected to offer comfortable riding experience with a compact UM engine, great suspension and exquisite bodywork.

One of the highlights is that it has the Anti-Flat Sealant (AFS) feature which prevents punctures caused by the unexpected obstacles on the road. This technology ensures greater safety and marvellous riding experience, allowing the rider to dominate all types of streets. The digital instrument on XStreet 230 is smart and offers shift light function as well. This automated feature helps you to choose the gears according to the selected riding mode. It also has a USB port to charge your mobile phone and other electronic equipment in case you are on a long drive. Now, how cool is that, right? Overall, it should be an affordable naked street bike.

Key Specifications

  • Type: Naked Street Bike
  • Engine: 223cc
  • Max Power: 17.28bhp @ 8,000 rpm
  • Max Torque: 16.54Nm @ 7,000 rpm
  • Expected Price: ₹1.2 lakh

RE Electra 500

RE Electra 500, long awaited by RE fans
RE Electra 500

Expected Launch Date: Mid 2017

For all you RE fans out there, 2017 after all could be the year when Royal Enfield finally launches its much awaited Electra 500 motorbike. I know that we have been hearing about this launch since early 2016, however, Royal Enfield has always refrained from making any official announcements yet.

Well, if the motorbike is launched, expect it to be priced a bit more than the Bullet 500 for sure. Although, RE is expected to use the Bullet 500 engine only in this iteration of the Electra. So, I guess, it would only be fair to expect that the bike would more or less give about the same performance as the current Bullet 500. Plus, most likely the Electra 500 is going to miss fuel injection and instead come with a carburettor.

One thing’s for sure though, as has been the case with RE lately, one can expect the Electra 500 to be launched in a variety of colour schemes. However, no matter when the bike gets launched, RE certainly expects it to cater to such RE buyers who are looking to own a 500cc product between the plain Bullet 500 and the much more expensive Classic 500. And, I bet that the Electra 500 would certainly fit right in that slot.

Key Specifications

  • Type: Classic Thumper
  • Engine: 499cc
  • Max Power: 27.2bhp @ 5,250 rpm
  • Max Torque: 41.3Nm @ 4,000 rpm
  • Expected Price: ₹1.8 lakh
