The Event
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Inc. organizes motorbike rally every year in Sturgis, South Dakota that lasts for ten days/night. Every year the rally starts in the first week of August and continues till the second.
It is not just a rally but the best platform for racers and riders to showcase their talents in drag races, hill climbs and motorcross races that are included as a part of this event.

History
Sturgis rally was popularly known as Black Hills Classic. It started in 1938 and was hosted by the Indian Motorcycle Company which catered to a very small audience and had just 9 participants. Thereafter the rally took a short break during 1939-1941 to support the war efforts during World War II and was back in 1942 as Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Initially, the rally was organized for just a few hours in a day. The present form of the 7-10 day event started from 1975.
Media Coverage
The main aim of this rally is to raise the city’s annual revenue and help various social causes. The rally is broadcasted in pawn stars, TV shows and a daily coverage of the rally is featured in the Rapid City Journal.
The event has its own souvenir sponsors, food vendors, motorbike booths and shops where participants can know more about the event and customize their motorbikes too.

This year Sturgis is celebrating its 78th anniversary from August 3rd to August 12th in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
